About the album Freedom

The Freedom of 1989 was the album Neil Young had been searching for over ten years. It was the album that marked his comeback, as well as his journey into the next decade.

The album contains songs that Neil Young had started writing throughout almost his entire career and which finally found their final form in 1989. The album includes two versions of the song Rockin' in the Free World. An acoustic one at the beginning of the album and an electric one at the end of it. Thus, a new generation of listeners engaged with it.

The album had two producers, Neil Young and Niko Bolas. In the USA, it sold 500,000 copies.
