Neil Young with his 2021 album Barn reaches his forty-third studio recording and the fourteenth with the band Crazy Horse. In 2021, Crazy Horse consists of Nils Lofgren on guitar, Billy Talbot on bass, and Ralph Molina on drums. Barn is a pure rock album, which could have been released any year in the 1970s.
Niko Bolas is the producer of the album, an album that was recorded in five days, from June 19 to June 24, 2021, at Studio in the Clouds in Colorado. Neil Young had four songs ready and suggested to the other three to gather in an 1870 barn in the Rocky Mountains and record them there. Eventually, in a short amount of time, six more songs emerged, and the album Barn was complete. The barn and the band are shown on the album cover.
Despite not being a great commercial success, Barn is considered one of Neil Young’s most dynamic and interesting albums. The album reached No. 66 on the Billboard.
