About the album Overkill
Overkill from 1979 would become the second studio album by the English band Motorhead, and it would be the first of the trilogy of albums (along with Bomber and Ace Of Spades) that built the group's career in the late '70s and the very early part of the next decade.
The album and its musical timbre do not resemble anything else contemporary to it. It is not punk, it is not hard rock, it is certainly not new wave. There are some influences from space rock (Capricorn, Metropolis) that Lemmy carries from his time with Hawkwind, but that's about it. Overkill was recorded in December 1978 and January 1979 at the Roundhouse studio in London, and it was produced by Jimmy Miller.
Surprisingly, the album reached No. 24 in the UK and sold 60,000 copies.
