About the album Iron Fist

In the second half of 1981, Motorhead enjoyed success in their homeland for the first time thanks to the live recording No Sleep 'til Hammersmith. Under these circumstances, the power trio entered the studio in January 1982 to prepare their next album. There, however, the unexpected happened. Eddie Clarke dismissed producer Vic Maile without much ado because he was not satisfied with his work and decided to do the production himself. This was done almost behind Lemmy's back, who would later blame Eddie "Fast" Clarke for the unsatisfactory performance of Iron Fist, and he would leave the group.

Iron Fist was released in April 1982, followed by a tour that even took Motorhead to Japan. In May, after a concert in New York, Clarke left the band, and a few days later, he was replaced by Brian Robertson, who had played with Thin Lizzy. Iron Fist marked the end of the legendary trio of Motorhead, and the truth is that whatever they did in the future, Motorhead was never able to deliver what they had with their first five albums.

Iron Fist reached No. 6 in the UK, where it sold 60,000 copies. In the US, it reached No. 174.
