About the album Down To Earth

Down To Earth is the debut album of British rapper Monie Love, which was released on October 30, 1990. It was recorded from May 1989 to June 1990 at TTO Studios and Calliope Studios in New York. The production was undertaken by significant names of the hip-hop scene at the time, such as the Beatnuts, Afrika Baby Bam (from the Jungle Brothers), Andy Cox and David Steele (of Fine Young Cannibals), as well as Richie Fermie, Dancin' Danny D, and Kevin Maxwell.

The album featured several hits, but the one that dominated was the single It's A Shame (My Sister), which became her only Top-40 hit on the Billboard as it reached No. 26.

The album reached No. 109 on the Billboard 200 and No. 26 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums in the USA. In the United Kingdom, it reached No. 30 on the charts. Monie Love received two Grammy nominations (Best Rap Solo Performance) in 1991 and 1992 for the singles of Down To Earth.
