Melissa was the debut album of the Danish band Mercyful Fate and was released by Roadrunner Records. This album is one of the most definitive and legendary albums of European Heavy Metal and served as a compass in the following years for the sound of the genre to become more extreme.
The band needed only twelve days in the studio to complete the record, as many songs were ready beforehand.
The music belongs to guitarist Hank Shermann, while the lyrics are by King Diamond, or as he is known in real life, Kim Bendix Petersen.
