La Radiolina  by Manu Chao

La Radiolina is the fourth solo studio album by Manu Chao, which was released in September 2007. The title means "the little transistor" in Italian, referring to the portability and immediacy of his music. The album was mainly recorded with a laptop at his home in Barcelona and in various places around the world (bars, rooms, squats) during his travels. Here Manu Chao confirms his role as a "citizen of the world," singing in 7 languages: Spanish, French, English, Portuguese, Italian (for the first time), Galician, and Wolof (!)

The album was a huge success in Europe and Latin America, reaching the top of the charts in many countries. The single "Rainin in Paradize" became a global hit, accompanied by a music video directed by Emir Kusturica. It is an explosive mix of Latin rock, reggae, ska, punk, and flamenco. Compared to Manu Chao's previous albums, La Radiolina has a more intense electric sound and more guitars. The cover depicts Manu Chao in a carefree, almost chaotic composition, reflecting the "bazaar" aesthetic and multiculturalism that permeates the album.

The reviews were generally positive, although divided. Pitchfork and The Guardian praised it for its energy and political messages (such as in "Politik Kills"). Some critics, like those at BBC Music, noted that the album might feel tiring due to the repetition of similar rhythms and its long duration (21 tracks). Nevertheless, it is considered one of the most dynamic and "rock" albums of his career.
