Casa Babylon by Mano Negra
About the album Casa Babylon
On May 6, 1994, Mano Negra released the fourth and final studio album of their career shortly before the band broke up. Casa Babylon is an album where Mano Negra gives their best effort. The album was recorded at Studio Ornano in Paris and produced by the band members themselves.
Casa Babylon is exactly what its title and cover promise: a Babylon, a mix that has a bit of everything, an endless celebration of music. In Casa Babylon, ska and dub meet punk, hardcore, and hip-hop/rap. Reggae and waltz coexist with alternative rock, as well as Latin rock. The English language alternates with French and Spanish from song to song, and even within the same song. Here, one can hear how Mano Negra pays tribute to Diego Maradona (Santa Maradona) and comments on the American way of life (Hamburger Fields).
In Spain, it sold 50,000 copies, while in Switzerland it reached number 32 in the country.
