The title Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor is a pun for the Muslim Fiasco as if to say "good & bad." The recordings of the album lasted from 2003 to 2006. The main producer of the album was Jay-Z.
The album reached No.8 on Billboard and sold 500,000 copies in the USA.
