About the album Viento del Este

The album Viento del Este was released on April 22, 2016 by the Spanish artist of the rock scene, Loquillo. It is a record that marked his return to his rock roots, combining decades of experience with fresh production.

The recording of Viento del Este aimed for a "live" and organic sound, emphasizing guitars and the authenticity of the band. It features a sound that marries classic rock 'n' roll with country-rock elements and melodiousness. The lyrics of the songs focus on introspection, memory, and survival over time. The main composers of the songs are Igor Paskual (a close collaborator and guitarist), Gabriel Sopeña, Sabino Méndez, and Loquillo himself (José María Sanz). The production was signed by Josu García and Mario Cobo. Among the new compositions is the cover of the well-known song Me olvidé de vivir (made famous by Julio Iglesias).

The album reached No. 1 on the official Spanish charts during its release week. The album quickly went gold in Spain, confirming the artist's timeless popularity. The Viento del Este promotion tour was named Salud y Rock and Roll (after the album's top single of the same name) and lasted most of 2016 and 2017. The most historic moment of the tour was the concert at the Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas in Madrid, on September 24, 2016. The performance took place in front of an enthusiastic audience of thousands and was considered a milestone for the Spanish rock scene of that period.
