About the album Killing Joke

Killing Joke is the debut album of the Londoners Killing Joke in 1980. It is one of the best and most characteristic post-punk albums ever released. In their first album, Killing Joke combines punk, electronic, and dance music. In fact, it is one of the first industrial rock albums ever recorded. Its influence reaches easily 15-20 years later onto bands like Nine Inch Nails, even the Germans Rammstein or Metallica, who would cover The Wait a few years later.

Obviously, at the time of its release, it was ignored by everyone with few exceptions, but as the singer of Killing Joke, Jaz Coleman, has stated, at first the album was mocked, but eight years later everyone was talking to us about its originality, people are probably fickle…

The Killing Joke reached No. 39 in the United Kingdom.
