Honi Soit by John Cale
About the album Honi Soit
In March 1981, John Cale released his seventh solo studio album. Its title is Honi Soit. Honi Soit was the first album Cale offered to his music fans after an absence of six years.
In this album, John Cale dives into the new wave, which is dominant at the time, and adapts it to his own musical tastes, creating small new wave and post-punk anthems like Strange Times In Casablanca or the album's namesake. The only single from the album was its opening track, Dead Or Alive, one of the best songs of his entire career. Honi Soit contains nine songs. All compositions belong to John Cale except for Streets Of Laredo, which is an American cowboy ballad that the Welsh artist adapts to his style.
For the record, Honi Soit is the only John Cale album that entered the Billboard Top-200, reaching No. 154 (!)
