About the album Don't Worry About Me

The legendary lead singer of the Ramones, Joey Ramone, spends part of 2000 and 2001 recording his first solo album. All of this happens as he has been diagnosed with cancer and is very aware that he doesn't have much time left. The album, from its title Don't Worry About Me to its opening track What A Wonderful World—a punk rock cover of Louis Armstrong's song—exudes a note of optimism. Don't Worry About Me was finally released in February 2002, ten months after the death of its creator.

The album consists of eleven pure punk rock compositions, of which two are covers—the aforementioned song and 1969 by the Stooges. Joey Ramone receives significant help from his old acquaintances Daniel Rey on guitars and backing vocals and Marky Ramone on drums. Daniel Rey is also the album's producer. What A Wonderful World—the album's first single—was heard at the end of Michael Moore's documentary "Bowling For Columbine," which was also released in 2002, and was also featured in several commercials.

The album reached No. 109 on the Billboard chart.
