About the album Pearl

The recorded between July 27 and October 4, 1970, Pearl would prove to be the last album for this great performer, as her death on October 4, 1970, would not even allow her to hold in her hands the most complete album she recorded as it officially released on January 11, 1971.

Pearl is a true gem. Janis Joplin gives us exceptional performances on songs like Move Over, Cry Baby, and Mercedes Benz. Of the ten songs on the album, the only one she composed herself is Move Over, but her interpretation of the others has created the impression among people that they are her own compositions or in any case few are concerned with the songwriters despite the fact that some of the songwriters' names are those of Kris Kristofferson or Bobby Womack. The production of the album is the work of Paul A. Rothchild.

Because of all the above, Pearl reached No.1 on the Billboard, Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, Norway, and the worldwide sales officially recorded approach 5,000,000 copies. It is a legendary rock album, where rock mixes with soul and blues music.
