In 1980, Iron Maiden would record their first album bearing their name and make history as they would create one of the most legendary albums in the history of heavy metal music. Its sound is a combination of punk and heavy metal music.

Iron Maiden is the only album by the band in which guitarist Dennis Stratton participates and the only one produced by Wil Malone, from whom the band was not satisfied at all, and in fact, it was the group's own members who did the production. The album took only thirteen days to record.

The album reached No. 4 in the UK, and with the 300,000 sales it has recorded, it has become platinum in the United Kingdom.
