All Shall Fall by Immortal
About the album All Shall Fall
Immortal released their eighth studio album titled All Shall Fall on September 25, 2009, in Europe and on October 6, 2009, in the USA through Nuclear Blast Records. It is the band's only album with bassist Apollyon and the last with the iconic singer/guitarist Abbath.
The album maintains Immortal's classic black metal sound with an emphasis on epic riffs and the dark atmosphere of the fictional world "Blashyrkh." It is characterized by a cleaner and more polished production compared to their earlier works, approaching "stadium black metal." The composition of the songs began in January 2008. Recording took place between April and June 2009 at Grieghallen Studio (Bergen, Norway) and Abyss Studio (Sweden). The production was done by the band in collaboration with Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy, Pain), who also handled the mixing.
All Shall Fall was considered a strong comeback after seven years of silence, generally receiving positive reviews from the specialized press. The album was successful on the charts, reaching No. 162 on the Billboard 200 in the USA and No. 33 in Germany, while selling about 3,300 copies in the first week in the USA.
