Filosem by Burzum
About the album Filosem
Varg Vikernes with the name Burzum, which was actually a musical project, recorded his fourth album titled Filosem in 1993. The album would be released in 1996 as the imprisonment of its creator would precede it. Filosem is a highly experimental record, where Varg Vikernes incorporates elements of ambient and minimalism into black metal.
The iconic cover of the album is a work by Norwegian painter Theodor Kittelsen (1857 - 1914), who was inspired by the natural landscapes of his homeland. The name of the painting is "Op under Fjeldet toner en Lur" which means "the trumpet sounds over the hills".
In a reissue, the album includes the 25-minute-long Rundgang Um Die Transzendentale Saule Der Singularitat, which is a completely ambient musical piece.
