About the album The Human Fear
The Human Fear is the sixth studio album by the Scottish indie rock band Franz Ferdinand, which was released on January 10, 2025, through Domino Recording Co. Franz Ferdinand returned to the discography after seven years and it was the first album with Audrey Tait on drums and Dino Bardot on guitar as full members.
The album maintains the band's classic indie rock sound with strong elements of "swagger," while incorporating influences from classic rock (such as ELO), ska, and electronic touches. The eleven tracks of the album explore deeply rooted human fears and how their acceptance shapes life. The production was undertaken by Mark Ralph, who had collaborated with them again on the 2013 album. The first three singles were Audacious, Night or Day, and Hooked. The track Black Eyelashes includes lyrics in Greek and references to Alex Kapranos's Greek heritage, while a bouzouki was also used during its performance (!) After the release of the album, the band announced an extensive tour in the United Kingdom and Europe for early 2025, preceded by performances in South America and Mexico along with The Killers.
The Human Fear reached No. 2 in the United Kingdom and No. 1 in Scotland.
