August by Eric Clapton
About the album August
Eric Clapton's tenth studio album will come in 1986, in the heart of the 1980s. In August, Clapton also tries here to find his steps in the musical reality of the mid-decade. The sound of the album can barely be characterized as rock, as it rather leans more towards pop than anything else.
What gives some interest to the album are the names involved. First and foremost is Tina Turner, with whom Eric Clapton sings a duet on Tearing Us Apart, followed by Phil Collins who plays drums on all tracks except for It's In The Way That You Use It. We have Dave Bargeron from Blood, Sweat & Tears on the trombone, while the production is shared by Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, and Tom Dowd. Among the standout songs was It's In The Way That You Use It as it was heard in the commercially successful film "The Color of Money" of the same year.
The album reached No.3 in Great Britain and, selling 300,000 copies there, became platinum. On the Billboard, it reached up to No.37.
