American Band of 2016 is the eleventh studio album by the rock band from Athens, Georgia. The album contains a series of powerful tracks which, in terms of sound, range from contemporary southern rock to alternative country, but in reality, the eleven musical tracks that make up the album are a collection of good rock songs in the classic sense of the term, songs that do not disappoint the lover of American rock.

Besides their noteworthy music, the songs of American Band have also stood out for their lyrics, lyrics that deal with and want to reflect on what was happening in the society and political scene of the United States at that time. Special importance is given to the major problem of the USA, which is gun ownership, as the lyrics of many songs are opposed to it (e.g., Ramon Casiano, Guns Of Umpqua). The great success of the album was Surrender Under Protest. The main composers of the songs are Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood, who both take on the performance and the guitars of the songs.

American Band reached No. 26 on the Billboard and No. 29 in the United Kingdom, and it was found on lists among the best albums of 2016.
