About the album The Last Broadcast
The Doves, having achieved success and recognition with their very first album in 2000 and after completing the promotional tour for their debut that took them as far as the USA and Canada, began recording their second album in January 2001.
The album was finally released in April 2002 and was titled The Last Broadcast. Their second record was enthusiastically received, especially its first single, There Goes The Fear, which reached No.3 on its release day, with copies literally sold out on its first day of release. This was a commercial trick as there were far fewer copies released to the market than what the British audience would typically buy. The Last Broadcast is an album that lies within the indie rock trend, but with many elements of dream pop or neo-psychedelia.
The Last Broadcast reached No.1 in the UK, and its sales of over 300,000 led it to become platinum. In the USA, it reached No.83 on the Billboard.
