About the album Adrenalize
Adrenalize, the fifth album by Def Leppard, was released on March 30, 1992. It marked a critical moment for the band as it was the first after the death of guitarist Steve Clark in 1991. The recordings mainly took place in the Netherlands (Wisseloord Studios) and Ireland (Joe’s Garage) between 1991 and 1992. It was recorded by the band as a quartet (four-member lineup) for the first and only time. Steve Clark had co-written 6 out of the 10 songs before he died.
The album continues the polished hard rock/glam metal sound of its predecessor (Hysteria), filled with anthems and dynamic ballads. The production was signed by Mike Shipley and Def Leppard themselves, with their longtime collaborator Robert John Mutt Lange in the role of executive producer. Despite the dominance of grunge at the time, the album managed to triumph commercially. Its greatest success was its first single, Let's Get Rocked. Five more (!) followed.
Adrenalize debuted at No. 1 in both the United States and the United Kingdom. It has sold over 7,000,000 copies worldwide.
