Bon Jovi, immediately after the tour for Slippery When Wet, wanted to show that they were capable of repeating the immense success and establishing themselves in the public consciousness as a band with a future. Thus, in 1988, New Jersey was ready.
The initial idea was for it to be a double album, but their record company held them back.
In the end, Bon Jovi was right. The album swept everywhere and kept them at the top. 7,000,000 sales in the U.S. alone. The young men from New Jersey were now the most popular band of the mainstream rock sound in the late 1980s.
