About the album Raintown
Scottish band Deacon Blue, with their debut album Raintown, unfold a collection of pure, melodic pop songs that were born in Great Britain somewhere in the mid-'80s. The primary purpose of this album's existence was to address the urban environment issues in British cities or any point of the modern western world. This is evident from the cover art itself (!)
The great secret of this album's beauty is the unique pairing of lyrics with special meaning and charming, wonderful music that embraces the listener from all sides. The overwhelming majority of the compositions solely belong to the group's singer and songwriter, Ricky Ross.
It was no coincidence that it remained in the UK charts for a year and a half. Over the years, the sales of Raintown have approached 1,000,000 copies.
