About the album David Bowie (2)

The just twenty-two-year-old David Bowie releases his second album which also carries - like his first one two years earlier - his name as the title. Here the artist completely changes musical style and engages with folk rock but with many elements of psychedelic rock. Generally, he tried to incorporate many of the dominant musical styles that had resonance in the late '60s. The album's producer is Gus Dudgeon on all the songs except for the album's great and timeless hit, Space Oddity, the production of which was undertaken by Tony Visconti.

David Bowie certainly hasn't found his stride yet, but this will not take long to change in the next few years. The themes of the songs revolve around experiences that Bowie himself is living at that time.

The album will likely go unnoticed during its time. It will take until the year 1972 for it to start selling and begin to occupy notable positions on the charts. In Britain, it has managed to sell 100,000 copies.
