Punishment For Decadence by Coroner
About the album Punishment For Decadence
The Swiss band Coroner recorded their second studio album in May 1988 at Sky Trak Studios in Berlin. The album, Punishment For Decadence, was released in August of the same year and immediately caught the attention of thrash metal music fans.
Coroner's thrash metal stands out from the American scene's thrash or even more so from the German scene's thrash. Coroner have incorporated many elements of technical thrash into their music, and there are also progressive elements that make Punishment For Decadence a unique album in the field. The music of the songs is the result of the collaboration between guitarist Tommy T. Baron and bassist Ron Royce, while the lyrics are the work of drummer Marquis Marky.
The album closes with a cover of Jimi Hendrix's Purple Haze (!), while the sculpture on the cover of the first edition of the album is a work of French sculptor Auguste Rodin, who is considered one of the pioneers of modern sculpture.
