About the album Epicus Doomicus Metallicus

With the release of their debut Epicus Metallicus in mid-1986, the Swedes Candlemass became pioneers of a new subgenre of Heavy Metal, Doom Metal. A slow and heavy sound of electric guitars dressed with operatic vocals. What was impressive in reality was that Candlemass were going back in time ten years as if they were advancing from the mid-70s and not Black Sabbath.

On vocals, we hear Johan Längqvist, who was not a permanent member of the group and indeed had to wait until 2018 to join the group!

At the beginning of its release, the album had not achieved much, but it is now considered a legendary album in Heavy Metal music.
