About the album The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle

The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle from 1973 is the second album of an unknown young American named Bruce Springsteen, who had just formed his band, the E Street Band, and together they were all trying to follow Springsteen's musical dream. At the time it was released, the album passed unnoticed by the public, with only some record critics writing a few good words.

The truth is that its seven compositions didn’t have many common elements to bind them together and create a unified body. On the other hand, after the unique evolution and career of this great artist, today The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle sounds nostalgic, romantic, raucous, and is a wonderful memento and a strong testament to the existence of another distant era, when the artist was free to fill one side of the record with three songs (!), and was free to experiment on a rock album even with accordion and tuba (!). For many years later, Springsteen would honor this work by having the songs 4th Of July, Asbury Park (Sandy) and Rosalita (Come Out Tonight) as an integral part of his live performances. Two songs that defined the early years of the artist from New Jersey.

At the time of its release, it reached No. 59 on the Billboard. Springsteen's second album - like the first - appeared on the UK charts in 1985 (!) after the worldwide success of Born In The USA.
