About the album Two Steps From The Blues
Bobby Bland from the State of Tennessee presents his first LP in January 1961. Two Steps From The Blues is actually an album divided between five songs that this great bluesman had recorded from 1956 to 1960 and seven new songs he wrote for the album's purposes.
The songs Bobby Bland presents musically range between soul and blues music. Here, on this album, one will find one of Bland's most characteristic songs, I Pity The Fool. Two Steps From The Blues was recorded at the Universal Recording Corporation studio. The album's producer was Don Robey, who was the composer of about half of the album's songs.
One of the album's most striking moments is Bobby Bland's rendition of the traditional song St. James Infirmary Blues. Two Steps From The Blues is a musical monument of another era. The album was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1997.
