Sabbath Bloody Sabbath by Black Sabbath
About the album Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
The recording of Black Sabbath's fifth album turned out to be a great adventure as the band members' dependence on drugs was so significant that they spent long periods inactive. It is notable that a year and a half passed from the recording of the previous album until they reached Sabbath Bloody Sabbath in September 1973. We should also add to the recording difficulties the exhaustion that the group endured from the Vol. 4 promotion tour.
Eventually, the band gathered at Clearwell Castle in England to record there, where after a paranormal experience that Iommi shared with Ozzy, seeing a ghost at the castle one night, brought them back to reality, and shortly after Tony Iommi wrote the title track Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and the whole band got going again. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is also ranked among the legendary albums of the pioneers of heavy sound. The album cover, which is the work of American Drew Struzan, also played a role in making Sabbath Bloody Sabbath a great success.
The album reached No. 4 in the UK and No. 11 in the USA. The production of the album was done by the Black Sabbath themselves.
