About the album Mob Rules
Mob Rules was released in late 1981 and became the tenth studio album by Black Sabbath and the second with Ronnie James Dio on vocals. The album and its compositions are creations of Tonny Iommi and Geezer Butler, while the lyrics belong to Dio. On drums, we hear Vinny Appice for whom this will be the first album he records with Black Sabbath.
The recording of the album was a bit of an adventure as initially, the place they had found was not suitable for the sound they wanted, Dio had difficulty writing the lyrics, there were several tensions between them and generally, things were not going so well in the relationships of the band's members. For these reasons, Ronnie James Dio left to pursue his personal career.
Martin Birch was in the production of the album and delivered an excellent job. Mob Rules reached No.12 in the UK and No.29 in the United States. It certainly didn't have the impact that Heaven And Hell did, without being a bad album.
