About the album Master Of Reality
With Master Of Reality, Black Sabbath reach their third studio album, accomplishing this in about a year and a half. Master Of Reality comes to push things into even wilder and heavier realms. From here on, it starts to become apparent that the term Hard Rock is not sufficient to express what the young men from Birmingham are creating.
Guitarist Tony Iommi and the bassist tune their instruments lower than usual and create that heavy sound that a few years later would be called heavy metal. The truth is that when it was released, its sound was frightening, and the critics "mistreated" one of the most interesting and pioneering albums of rock music. The truth is that songs like Children Of The Grave definitely had the ability to cause terror upon hearing. It is no coincidence that many consider it the beginning of doom metal or even stoner metal, the latter of which would be heard twenty-five years later. The album's producer was Rodger Bain.
Today, Master Of Reality is undoubtedly one of the albums that built the legend of Black Sabbath. Its sales are approaching 2,500,000 copies worldwide. At the time of its initial release, it reached No.5 in Great Britain and No.8 in the United States of America.
