About the album Cross Purposes
On January 31, 1994, Black Sabbath's Cross Purposes was released. Cross Purposes was the band's seventeenth studio album and the third in which the vocals belong to Tony Martin.
As an album, Cross Purposes struggles to "survive" in a period when the metal scene had taken a completely different direction. The main trio that worked on the ten compositions of the record are Iommi, Martin, and Butler, while the album closes with Evil Eye, which is a composition of the previous three and Eddie Van Halen. The album cover is heavily influenced by the cover of the single for Send Me An Angel by Scorpions (!)
The album reached No. 41 in Great Britain, while in the USA it was limited to No. 122 on the Billboard.
