About the album Black Sabbath

In the long journey of rock in every version of it, there have been many albums that brought about great changes in song composition, in the approach to some form of musical variation, and ultimately in the birth of some new genre. However, to be objective, there hasn't been another album like Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath that has contributed so much to advancing hard rock and transforming it into heavy metal.

Black Sabbath of 1970 takes blues rock by the hand and swiftly transitions it from hard rock to heavy metal without necessarily naming it as such. This would happen some years later. The group of Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward literally didn't know what they were doing, but they probably did it extremely well. The album - without being musically anything special - managed to fundamentally define rock music for the following decades.

Upon its release, Black Sabbath reached No.8 in Great Britain and No.23 in the USA.
