About the album Spreading The Disease

Anthrax with their 1985 Spreading The Disease make a clear change in their sound. Speed metal takes a backseat and with compositions like A.I.R., Madhouse, or Medusa, thrash metal comes to the forefront. The production is by Jon Zazula, who is also the owner of Megaforce Records, where the band recorded their second album.

In this second album, there is also another significant change beyond the musical direction. Joey Belladonna has taken over the vocals. On the album, we find two songs for which the previous singer, Neil Turbin, is responsible.

Spreading The Disease elevated the band in the American metal community to such an extent that the band was openly and equally compared to Metallica, who at that time had already made a very strong name for themselves throughout the United States.
