About the album Canciones Profanas

Carlos Berlanga with Dinarama, along with singer Alaska, presented their first album titled Canciones Profanas in 1983. The album's sound is heavily influenced by new wave and synth-pop, as well as gothic rock. The band initially recorded some songs in the absence of Carlos Berlanga, who did not participate in the process as he was doing his military service. When he returned, he didn't like what they had prepared and they wrote other songs, which eventually made up the entirety of their debut.

The first single from Canciones Profanas went unnoticed. However, this was not the case with the second single, Perlas Ensangrentadas, which became a hit in Spain, but was "accused" of its similarity in sound to Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run (!). The third single was Rey Del Glam, a song dedicated to the glam rock musical movement with references in its lyrics to David Bowie and T-Rex.

Canciones Profanas is considered one of the most legendary and important pop/rock albums in Spanish rock and specifically the musical movement that became known in the early '80s as "movida madrileña," a movement that brought renewal – at the time – to the rock sound of Spain.
