About the album Kaizoku-Ban

The EP Kaizoku-Ban by Accept was released in 1985 and is a live recording capturing the band at the peak of its commercial success. The title Kaizoku-Ban in Japanese means "Pirate Edition" or "Bootleg." Despite the title, it is an official release by the label.

Kaizoku-Ban was recorded live in Nagoya, Japan, at the Aichi Kinko Kaikan theater, on September 19, 1985. At that time, many live albums were extensively edited in the studio to correct mistakes. However, Accept chose to release it without overdubs. This showcased Wolf Hoffmann's tremendous technical skill on the guitar and Udo Dirkschneider's unique energy. The recording captures the raw power the band had on stage, confirming why they were considered one of the top live acts in Heavy Metal worldwide in the mid-1980s. The EP's mere six songs are from the 1983 album Balls To The Wall and the 1985 album Metal Heart.

The EP was mainly successful in Europe, reaching No. 50 in the United Kingdom and No. 57 in Germany. The response was excellent, as Japan was considered one of the "hottest" markets for the band at that time. Kaizoku-Ban was released in Japan by Portrait Records and was later re-released under the title Live In Japan.
