Pop by U2
About the album Pop
The U2 with their ninth album named Pop in 1997 want to go one step further than their previous work, Zooropa. In Pop, they incorporate much more electronic sound than they had done in any of their previous works, and this often becomes tiresome and instead of impressing, it has exactly the opposite results.
The U2 did something reckless during the recordings of Pop before it was completed. They allowed their manager to book concert dates for its promotion while the album had not reached a complete and desired form. Thus, with this pressure upon them, they hurried to finish because they were awaited by the PopMart Tour that lasted from April 1997 to March 1998, while the album had been released in early March 1997.
Despite the U2's rush and despite the dramatic change in sound offered by the Irish, Pop sold over 5,000,000 copies worldwide, while at the time of its release it reached No. 1 in more than twenty countries.
