About the album Who Killed The Zutons?
Who Killed The Zutons? is the debut album of the English band Zutons, who in 2004 offer a record that draws inspiration from the 1960s, but at the same time manages to unite elements from different musical styles in a way that is not jarring, but rather intrigues the listener. The album combines folk elements, garage rock, and indie pop.
Although the driving force behind the twelve compositions of the album is the group's guitarist and singer, Dave McCabe, one cannot ignore the contribution of the other band members, who offer their ideas for this distinctive musical outcome. Particularly important is the sound from the "musical touches" that Abi Harding adds here and there with her saxophone. The album's creation was significantly influenced by its producer, Ian Broudie.
For all these reasons, Who Killed The Zutons? managed to win over the British audience and reach No. 6 in the UK, selling over 600,000 copies there, which allowed it to become double platinum. This enabled the Zutons to be selected to accompany R.E.M.'s tour in the United Kingdom in June and July 2005! Success in the USA never came for the band from Liverpool, which disbanded in 2009, after releasing two more albums. Since then, there have been some reunions and one more album many years later with quite different members.
