About the album Icky Thump
The recordings of Icky Thump took place during January and February 2007. The White Stripes happily reached the sixth album of their short-lived - as it turned out - career, which of course is also the last sample of their work, since shortly after Jack White and Meg White dissolved one of the most interesting American bands of the first decade of the 21st century.
On their last album, the White Stripes stand on garage rock, but they also present some compositions that move towards the realm of alternative rock. The following year, it won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album of the year. The secret of its success as an album might have been that it was recorded at the analog Blackbird Studio in Tennessee, thus enabling the White Stripes to achieve a stripped-down and raw sound. The album's production was handled by Jack White.
Icky Thump reached No. 1 in the United Kingdom within the first week of its release, while in the United States of America, it went straight to No. 2, selling 223,000 copies immediately upon its release. The album's total worldwide sales are estimated at around 750,000. The White Stripes bid farewell to their music fans with an excellent record.
