About the album A Storm In Heaven

The Verve released their first album titled A Storm In Heaven in June 1993. Its recording took place between December 1992 and January 1993, and the album's producer was chosen by Virgin Records to be John Leckie. It was preceded by the release of The Verve EP in early December 1992.

Most of the album's compositions were not pre-existing but were written by The Verve in the studio. The musical style of the album ranges between psychedelic rock, space rock, and dream pop, while the musical movement of England - which was at its peak at the time - shoegazing is quite evident. The producer, Leckie, who had recently worked with The Stone Roses, clearly pushed things in that direction. On the album cover, we see Thor's Cave located in central England.

The first single from A Storm In Heaven was Blue. The album managed to reach 100,000 sales in the United Kingdom and placed The Verve on the music map of Britain for the following years.
