About the album Doremi Fasol Latido
Doremi Fasol Latido is the third studio album by the British band Hawkwind, released on November 24, 1972. It is considered one of the band's most iconic albums, as it established their characteristic "space rock" sound. The production was done by Hawkwind themselves, with significant contributions from Dave Brock and Del Dettmar. This album marked the first appearance of two key members: Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister replaced Dave Anderson on bass, bringing a more aggressive and rhythmic sound, and Simon King replaced Terry Ollis on drums, providing a more stable and rock foundation.
The album moves in the space rock and psychedelic rock realm, with strong elements of proto-punk and hard rock. The compositions include classic tracks such as Nik Turner's Brainstorm and Lemmy's The Watcher. Doremi Fasol Latido was recorded at Rockfield Studios (Monmouth) and Olympic Studios in September and October 1972. The cover was designed by renowned artist Barney Bubbles. The original release came with an impressive silver metallic cover and was accompanied by an internal insert and a poster titled "Star Rats."
Although the legendary Silver Machine was released the same year and achieved massive success (No3), it was not included in the original album release. The single Urban Guerrilla is also associated with this period (often as a bonus track in reissues), but it was soon withdrawn from circulation due to political circumstances. The album reached No14 on the UK charts, remaining there for about five weeks.
