About the album 3 + 3
The title of the Isley Brothers' album 3 + 3 signifies the participation of three additional musicians in the band, as can be seen on the cover. This record was the seventh studio album by the Isley Brothers, and its sound followed the trend known as progressive soul while not abandoning funk.
3 + 3 was recorded at Record Plant studio exactly at the time when Stevie Wonder was recording his own album, Innervisions, there. The album contains four covers of songs by others (e.g., Listen To The Music, Summer Breeze), which the Isley Brothers approached in their own funky way.
The album reached No. 8 on the Billboard chart. It remains one of the most interesting and complete works by the group from Cincinnati, Ohio.
