About the album Talking Book
In 1972, Stevie Wonder was 22 years old and released the fifteenth album of his career (!) titled Talking Book. The Talking Book - along with Music Of My Mind from the same year (!) - marks the beginning of a different musical direction that Stevie Wonder would take, more complex with progressive elements and funk. It's as if he is diving even deeper into soul music. The lyrics of the songs revolve around the love and excitement it brings, or the love and pain that – also – it brings.
Dominant and decisive in shaping the sound of Talking Book were the keyboards and synthesizers played by Stevie Wonder. Thanks to the composition "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life," Stevie Wonder won his first Grammy award in the category of Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
The album reached No. 3 on the Billboard chart.
