In 1988, two years had passed since the debut of the Godfathers and the gang from London returned with Birth, School, Work, Death. In their second album, a lot has changed in what they offer to those who loved them with their first record and certainly the fans of this alternative rock band will increase.

Birth, School, Work, Death contains eleven powerful moments that make up an explosive set of songs. The three singles from the album were Birth, School, Work, Death (released before the album), Cause I Said So, and Love Is Dead. The lyrics of the songs are highly nihilistic and a sure source of inspiration for this was the Punk movement ten years earlier, as well as the events happening in England in the '80s. The glorification of nothing starts with the cynical cover of the album.

The second album by the Godfathers reached No. 80 in Great Britain.
