About the album Minute By Minute
The eighth studio album of the Doobie Brothers was the band’s biggest commercial success from California. Its title was Minute By Minute, and it was released in December 1978. The album and its singles dominated the following year and managed to win the Grammy award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals, while the single What A Fool Believes also received three awards.
The Doobie Brothers compose and perform songs that offer quality pop & rock music enriched with elements of blues, soul, and even country in the instrumental Steamer Lane Breakdown. A significant role in the sound of Minute By Minute was played by the group's long-time collaborator, producer Ted Templeman, who knows how to highlight the Doobie Brothers' abilities once again. Besides all the above, the album captures a light Californian atmosphere.
Minute By Minute reached No. 1 in Canada and on the Billboard charts, staying for 87 consecutive weeks in the Top-200 of this chart. Its sales reached 3,000,000 copies in the United States alone. The Doobie Brothers could not replicate a similar and so great success in the future.
