About the album Blue Is The Colour

With their fifth album, The Beautiful South will achieve a small miracle in the music industry of Great Britain. Blue Is The Colour will convince 1,500,000 Britons of its completeness to acquire a copy.

The album contains eleven songs, composed by Paul Heaton and David Rotheray, and a cover of Bobby Darin's song Artificial Flowers from 1960 (!) The production of Blue Is The Colour is credited to Jon Kelly, who brings out everything each band member has to offer to the highest degree. Four singles emerged from the album: Rotterdam (Or Anywhere), Don't Marry Her, Blackbird On The Wire, and Liars' Bar. The first two made it to the Top-10 in Great Britain.

Blue Is The Colour is a gem of British pop music, a landmark album for the British pop music scene of the 1990s. It was no coincidence that ten days after its release, it reached No. 1 in the United Kingdom.
