The Beautiful South

The Beautiful South were a British pop band formed in 1988 in Kingston by former members of the band The Housemartins, Paul Heaton and Dave Hemingway. Their music contained ironic and often satirical lyrics that reflected social and political themes. Some of their biggest hits include "Song for Whoever", "You Keep It All In", "A Little Time" and "Rotterdam". The band was distinguished for its ability to combine upbeat melodies with profound lyrics. The Beautiful South disbanded in 2007.
