Rubber Soul by The Beatles
About the album Rubber Soul
Rubber Soul is the sixth album by the Beatles. It is their second album in 1965 and will come a few months after Help!. Rubber Soul marks the significant change in the band's musical style that would come in the second half of the '60s. The change starts from the cover. One only needs to compare it with the Help! cover and instantly realize that something different is coming.
The Beatles here seem to fuse and match folk rock, pop, rock, and even soul. In reality, the Beatles incorporated their influences from the United States and what they experienced and heard there during the tour that had preceded a few months before they entered the studio for Rubber Soul. The lyrics of the songs are clearly more mature and more complex in their meanings. Most of the songs are compositions by Lennon and McCartney, while Harrison and Starr also contribute. George Martin was also in production here.
Rubber Soul was a great success for the Beatles. The No. 1s were raining down in most countries, while it has now surpassed 7,000,000 in sales. It is worth mentioning that in 1987 - twenty-two years after its initial release - the album was released in CD form and re-entered the charts in the U.S. and the UK.
