The Soul Cages by Sting
About the album The Soul Cages
The Soul Cages is the result of Sting's effort to reconcile with the idea of his father's death, which occurred in 1987. All the songs on Sting's third album in 1991 revolve around this theme.
The many references to the sea are due to the fact that his father wanted to become a sailor, but ultimately never did.
The album was a commercial success for Sting as it reached No.1 in the UK and No.2 in the USA. There was also great response in the other European countries that followed the British Sting in his internal search.
